Nogen der har erfaringer med custom dimension og metrics i Universal Analytics? Er det f.eks. muligt at tracke data om en side, f.eks. antal kommentarer, navn på forfatter eller en pris på en produktside?

  1. Chrilles Wybrandt Så vidt jeg kan læse mig til, bortfalder Custom variables i fremtiden til fordel for Custom metrics og dimensions. Men de er i princippet også blot en udvidelse af samme koncept. 

    Event tracking virker mere relevant til enkeltstående hændelser, hvor det jeg er efter er, at tilknytte yderligere information til indholdssider. 

    Eksemplet med forfatter på en indholdsside nævner Google selv i ovenstående link, jeg forstå bare ikke hvordan de knytter den information til en indholdsside.

  3. The main Difference between Custom dimensions and metrics vs using the old custom variables is that the custom dimensions and metrics need to be set up first in your Google Analytics.  (admin->property->custom definitions)  

    That and Universal Analytics does not use the .push syntax. Instead, it has a function ga().

    Lets take your author for example.   Create a custom dimension called ‘Author’  then the source code for your page you would add something like this ga(‘set’,’dimension1′,’AuthorsName’);

     It always starts with Dimension and then the number of the dimension.   If you click on the name of the custom dimension on the Google Analytics website it will give you examples for the code.
